Dr. Gopal Gupta Identified Among Country's Top Prostate Cancer Surgeons

MAYWOOD, IL – Loyola Medicine's Gopal Gupta, MD was named among the country's top cancer surgeons by Newsweek. The first annual ranking of America's Best Prostate Cancer Oncologists & Surgeons recognizes the top 150 individuals each in two categories, surgeons and specialists.
Dr. Gupta has positioned Loyola to be a leader in robotic surgery and advanced urologic cancer surgery treatments. He has developed novel robotic approaches to kidney cancer surgery, prostate cancer and bladder cancer surgery. In addition, he has established the first MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) guided prostate fusion biopsy program in Illinois. Dr. Gupta is an expert in urologic oncology and robotic surgery and lectures extensively on these subjects at the regional and national level. He in in the top 1 percent nationally for surgery volumes.
Prostate cancer is the most common form of cancer in men and the second leading cause of cancer death among men in the country. One in eight men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer at some point in their life. This type of cancer grows slowly and is generally treatable once found. Treatments may include robotic surgery, radiation or hormone therapy.
