Min Park, MD, named Chair of Neurological Surgery at Loyola Medicine

MAYWOOD, IL – Min Park, MD, recently joined Loyola Medicine and Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine as the new chair of the Department of Neurological Surgery. In this leadership role, Dr. Park will guide the department’s clinical programs, research endeavors and educational mission.
Dr. Park is a nationally recognized neurosurgeon whose career spans advanced clinical practice, academic leadership and military service. He brings a wealth of experience in both neurosurgery and endovascular neurosurgery, having trained at Indiana University School of Medicine, completed his residency at the University of California, San Diego, and fellowship training at the Barrow Neurological Institute.
A former lieutenant commander in the U.S. Navy, Dr. Park served as a staff neurosurgeon at the Naval Medical Center San Diego and was deployed to Afghanistan in 2010. His service has been recognized with multiple commendations, including the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medals and the Afghanistan Campaign Medal.
Dr. Park most recently served on the faculty at the University of Virginia, where he held several key leadership roles, including director of cerebrovascular and endovascular neurosurgery and director of the comprehensive stroke center. He is also a Harrison distinguished teaching professor, reflecting his deep commitment to education.
An accomplished scholar, Dr. Park has authored more than 250 peer-reviewed publications and is the lead editor of several influential textbooks in the field. He serves on the editorial board of the Journal of Neurosurgery and is an active member of numerous professional societies, including the Society of Neurological Surgeons, American Association of Neurological Surgeons, Congress of Neurological Surgeons, the Joint AANS/CNS Cerebrovascular Section, American Heart Association/American Stroke Association and the Neurosurgical Society of America.
